Winter In Pine Grove Furnace 03

This image wasn't exactly outstanding to me while I was browsing the critique-able deviations. The trees and foliage are chaotic and it's rather hard to make sense of. Furthermore, there's a lack of near objects. Everything is jumbled together at a distance. Although these woods are definitely beautiful, I don't feel like the perspective is terribly original or inventive. Overall, the image is confusing and lacks the depth and richness I want it to have.

The color scheme is also rather uninteresting. It seems to be halfway between a kind of depressing, desaturated look and a lively, vibrant look. This unclear tone is confusing to me as a viewer. I think you're trying to point out the chaotic nature of, well, nature, but I don't sense any definite intention or meaning.

This image could be better if you took more liberties and extremes with the objects at your disposal. It's a rather ordinary shot. You wrote that you took this on a hiking trip, so it would be nice if I could experience your journey vicariously through the image - if your adventure and emotion sprang out of the picture.
